Create usb drive for boot/install XP

I am trying to make an usb drive to install XP. I need to include accessible SATA drivers.

I am starting from CDs or iso images.

I have no Windows machines and no FDDs.

Judging by the lack of any response, you don't think my question worth reply! :-P

Your post was moved to <General> because the subject did not pertain to Linux in any form.

on a linux OS
Code:
cd /To/The/Location/Where/The/ISO/Is

dd if=MS.WindowsXP.sp3.iso of=/dev/??? bs 512
replace "/dev/???" with the CORRECT location of the usb drive
Warning:
MAKE 100% SURE !!!!!
that that location IS THE USB
again make 100% sure !!

otherwise you will overwrite a operating system partition

run
Code:
su -
fdisk -l
with it plugged in to find it

Thx for the caution regarding drive name. It seems to be an easy pit to fall into - wonder why dd doesnt have an extra prompt built in!

I am no expert with dd, but this looks like a simple copy of the iso file. How does this give a bootable memory stick of the right protocol? FAT32?
