Comcast Cable Internet Question

This is a little poll/discussion about Comcast Cable internet. Do any of you have trouble staying connected to Comcast Cable? Does your Modem hang on a regular basis? Any other weird problems? Everyone in my general vicinity has problems with comcast. (South-Central Mississippi (US))

Just recently I dropped my Comcast cable TV, and because of that Comcast "accidentally" reset my modem. That was a good 20min. wait for technical support to fix it! Besides that I haven't had any problems in the two years that I've been with Comcast.

I'm in Pennsylvania though, so it probably doesn't help you much as far as your poll is concerned.

Thats a pretty biased poll and doesn't have an option for perfectly fine service. I've had Comcast for quite a bit and problems have been rare.

Not intentionally biased, but I was more concerned about what type of problems you have with comcast, not if you have them. (The above justification is because I didn't realize I forgot to put that option on there until you reminded me--I was in a rather sour mood when I made this post too...)

Not Bad

I've had cable internet from Comcast since the days when it was called Comcast@Home. In all those years I've only ever had 3 IP addresses and one of those changes occurred after @Home collapsed and Comcast took over the network. Service interruptions have been rare. Sometimes when running P2P software the router can get overwhelmed and stop responding, but the connection to the modem didn't drop. I am getting the advertised speeds and I just happen to live in one of their trial markets and I'm upgrading to 16/1 speeds this weekend - WOOT!

16-1???? Damn. I want one. By any chance, has Verizon moved fiber optic into your area? I've sort of noticed that Comcast's "test markets" are the ones where they have a touch of competition.

Nail on the head. Fiber to the premises will be available in this same area {Howard County} very shortly.

I've had Comcast since it was @Home back in 2000. Its service has had ups and downs depending upon who the owner was, where I lived, etc. Right now, I live in the north Seattle area (Lynnwood). The connection was quite stable until a few weeks ago, when it started to get cut off whenever I uploaded a large file to my company computer. The connection would usually come back after 10-20 seconds, but it's been highly annoying to me.

The modem also hangs pretty often lately - I'd usually let it get back on track by waiting for 20-30 seconds, but I sometimes have to manually reset it.
