BSNLBROAD internet connection in ubuntu 6.06

hi....i have installed ubuntu 6.06 and i want to configure my internet connection ...i have a BSNLBROAD SmartAX MT841 i have used the command "pppoeconf"...it worked for mozilla but after 15 min i lost the connection ....this continued....is their any permanent way of configuring if so ,please help me out and please give the reasons for this failure and post me all the details of getting a perect connection...if the details include commands plz...post them in detail.....
