Talking Another Windows Question - what does this warning mean?

Another Windows Question - what does this warning mean?

"MMC has detected an error in a snap-in. It is recommended that you shut down and restart the MMC."

I get this message when I try to use Executive Diskeeper 9. I've never had this message and I get it every time, now that I did a clean install.

When you see unknown error message, follow these steps:
1) open www.google.com in your browser
2) put entire message, in quotes, using copy/paste as search request.
3) If not enough results were found, remove quotes. and try again.
4) If your error is common, you should get explanation within first 10 search results.

Yes I tried, but nothing appeared - i.e., no results

Google search for only the first part got results, the first result being Microsoft's support page.

found this on the first google search:
"Open the MMC, select Continue, then go to File Save. If it prompts you to update the MMC click Yes and then close it."

Don't know if it works but updating should fix everything

Fedora Development

As you know, "MMC" is the Microsoft Management Console, which is basically a framework into which system-management tools can be "snapped in."

If a snap-in crashes, MMC will catch the error and display a message like this one. It instructs you to restart the system since that's the most-reliable way to clean up the mess.

MMC is also capable of checking digital-signatures on snap-ins to guard against modification (or outright forgery) of this software.

You should, for now, remove the snap-in. Contact the vendor for assistance.

How can I determine to which "snap-in" the message refers?

Google without the " (quotes) and get hits.
