No, I am talking about using the same win98 cd to upgrade to XP several times. Does microsoft check to see if the same win98 cd is used more than once to upgrade several XP upgrades on different machines with different XP upgrades purchased legally?
For example say i buy 5 XP upgrades for 99$ and use the same win98 cd to upgrade to XP on 5 different computers, would that be legal and would it work without microsoft knowing??
Unplug or your network connection and install. After that, just don't connect to the net or install right away some firewall like Zonealarm (free and easy to use) to make sure your box doesn't connect to microsoft. Zonealarm can block by programs so you can just vlock the ones that look suspicious (i think the activation check is done by oobe.exe or something like that).

I don't don't think it would be legal but I don't think they would know or you would be unable to do it or they would find out, as I say I've a feeling there been a change in their activation thing since it originally came out. Basically, if I was doing it I wouldn't be worried one bit.
