You know honestly, I'm just glad it's not the typical older white rich man as President. That alone means some type of change to me.
And I think it's awesome we have a President with recent roots and history outside of our own country.
I sincerely hope that he's genuine, not just fine words and empty promises like most politicians.
He's been nothing but lies and obfuscation so far. He's right on track for being exactly like his predecessors. So where's the change? What change? That's right, he still hasn't told us.

If so, if he is just another devious, manipulative liar - then he's going to severely disappoint many more people than any of his predecessors. I'm cynical about all politicians, so I think you may be right - but hope we're both proved wrong.
She didn't know what countries were part of NAFTA and didn't know Africa was it's own continent! And it's from FOX News, if they're even ragging on her for this, it's gotta be true.
Do you think they picked her because they didn't want to win? They wanted out, leave someone else to clear up their mess?
Nah, never. Even with low opinion and approval ratings from the public, they love to be in control. Any person that steps in and maybe actually gets us out of this mess is going to be seen as a hero and probably go down as one of the greatest presidents ever, anyone would want to be written into history books portrayed as that, at least I would think so.
The key now for the democrats is to pass good bills and measures into place. If they don't, we're gonna see another swap of control in two years.
I'm glad they most likely won't get that magic number 60, we need some type of opposition in the Senate. A dream of mine would be that they're actually required to read the damn bills from beginning to end before they're allowed to vote yea or nay, which sadly doesn't happen.
The problem with most of our government officials is they think short term, not long term. They just keep applying band-aids to open flesh wounds. Most of the bills passed might be great and great ideas that work for short term but come back to bite us in the long term.

To quote the simpsons:
Quote:
Bart : What if don't find anything?
Homer : Then we'll fake it and sell it to the Fox network.
Bart : They'll buy anything.
Homer : Now son, they also do a lot of quality shows ... ha ha ha ... They kill me.
So I guess its true then
Anyway, she does know where Russia is apparently...

Ha! Jimmy Carter got us out of the last one, by honesty, bravery and self-sacrifice, and he is put down daily by both parties. There is only one way to straighten up this mess, and it involves 15% unemployment and 20% interest rates for 3-5 years. Carter bit the bullet and hired Paul Volcker to do the job. The result ...
A one term presidency leaving a strongly rebounding economy for Reagan to throw at the military, Bush-1 and Clinton to simply fritter away, and Bush-2 to completely destroy.
Reagan was a great speechmaker ... he benefited the most from Carter's commitment to doing the right thing ... Obama is another Reagan, a speechmaker, not a knowledgeable statesman. Our only hope is that somehow, he will be impressed enough by the faith and hope people are feeling about his ascension that he will decide to commit himself to actually making the country better rather than listening to the Clintonites he has evidently committed to hiring to run the transitional adventure. If he wants to really fix the economy, he should sit down with Carter and Volcker and have a heart to heart conversation about their retrospective ideas.
Well hopefully Obama doesn't do everything that Carter did. Like sending the military into Iran.
That's the danger with Obama. With his better written speeches and a more humanitarian outlook, he will be able to justify war easier. Maybe with his background Africa is next in line to get "help" from the US army, like the help they gave Somalia not long ago...

You are too quick about blaming Obama for anything. Now is one of the first days of him being the president and you are already blaming him for something. Wait for a month, at least. Anyway aren't there a ways (in your law/constitution) to remove president if something "goes wrong"?

Yeah, I hate that attitude myself. At least wait until he's in office and then give him a few months to start actually working as the President. But then again, might have to wait a full year at minimum to then really criticize if any policies he introduces are making an impact or introducing change.
And he's not technically the President yet, he's the President-Elect. He's not officially President until January 20th. We're still stuck with Bush for 10 more weeks or so.
Let's just hope Bush doesn't get away with pushing some last minute deregulation that is hazardous to our health: http://www.truthout.org/103108A
It happens after decades of hearing politicians making fine sounding speeches about change, promises to do this and that, of seeing masses of peoples' hopes raised - and then things either stay the same or get worse.
