No, no... If you look at it properly, he's making sure people don't think he's selling a laptop, just these pens that he probably got as promotional items from a trade fair or something.
Ooh ooh, here! I love, no make that LOOOOVVVEEE Sony products. The only exception I've found so far is their car stereo equipment. It seems sub-quality, which makes me both enraged and sad. They did it half-assed it seems, in order to enter a market where they hadn't explored much.
Anyway.. Yeah, I love sony gear. I have a Sony Dig Cam, Dig Camcorder, love their PC's/laptops. Most of their home electronics are good (the exceptions being their low-end low-cost 'home theatres') and if you can find a good deal on their stuff (maybe clearance of open box) it's a great thing...
interesting masterc,
we could tell polar stories- i have a sony car stereo that works better with a better button layout and has better sound output than any other that ive had before. ive tried to find more but they discontinued them. i have their cheap home theater system and aside from a weak sub that i had to replace, it is quite liked by me as well. but thats where my appreciation stops. i dont like the playstation, ive had like three sony dvd players go bad when laser slide motor ( idont know the real name of it) went out. after less than a year of use. cant say nothing bout tha puters cause i dont like any computers off the shelf, cept for maybe alienware. and on dv cams i go with jvc cause im always one for the underdog.
so its wierd all the products you like i dont and vice versa.
The sub and upgrade-ability is a huge selling point to me on Home Theatre. If I get a crappy sub, that cannot [easily] be upgraded to a Cerwin Vega, or a sweet JBL, then that's not a good thing (to me). If the plugs on the back of the recievers are the type where you press down on the tab, and slide the wire in (a small hole) then that's indicative (to me) of poor quality. High quality would be the twist knobs that you wrap the large speaker wire around and clamp down with brute force
The car audio is extremely over estimated/rated. An equal amp of say, MTX, rated at 400w (both being rated at such) would get blown away. To better word that.. An MTX amp, rated at 400 w, vs a Sony amp rated at 400w, in a contest, the MTX would blow the doors off the Sony everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. And at the same time, Sony wants to charge MORE for their lower quality amp. That was a big turn off by itself.
Their decks are, well so-so. Not any worse than the rest of the standard line up of car audio. But it definitely doesn't come very close to the higher end units put out by Premier (Pioneer's high quality line-up) or upper end Alpine and Kenwood. And again, not at a great price. Sony charges an arm and leg for quality that isn't there, not with the car audio products anyway. It's definitely all "in the name" (to me) when it comes to the car audio and Sony, because they just don't seem to put the quality into it that they do with their other electronics line-up.
But, to each their own, and I'm sure everyone has had a bad experience with something another person would say is a quality product. Just the way the ball rolls I guess.

*Whew* I thought for a second that I was going to have to ask a crazy question kinda like, "Where do you plug the power supply in at?"
I use to sell Home and Car Audio components and here is my breakdown of what to buy (in lower to midrange budget that is) and what not to buy brand wise from my experience of seeing returns, defects (Note though, these are my own personal preferences):
Car Audio: Recommended
Kenwood
Pioneer and Premier
Panasonic
Rockford Fosgate
Clarion
Polk (Mainly Speakers)
JL Audio
Car Audio: Not Recommended
Alpine (LCD Displays always seem to go out prematurely)
Blaupunkt (Germans make great cars, not stereos)
Sony (Always got returned defective, more often than others for some reason)
AudioVox (Cheap written all over it, expect to replace soon)
Home Audio: Recommended
Technics
Yamaha
Sony
Pioneer
Harmon Kardon
Polk
Bose
Kenwood
Home Audio: Not Recommended
KLH (They don't even make good speakers)
Zenith (Needs to stay in the TV business.)
Can't think of any other home audio off top of my head. But one rule of thumb I like to keep on getting home audio equipment, especially recievers, if it lasts the first year, you can most likely expect it to last another decade or longer.
