Our rules also state to not make personal attacks as they are not tolerated, so you should shut your mouth before you lose privileges to this site.
If you don't agree with these rules, then you can either email me, another moderator, jeremy the site admin and owner or simply not use this site.
Back on topic, anyone wants to discuss the rules, let's do it privately. Anyone wants to further the discussion here in the forums, we'll just close the thread instead.
And as for you manny1337, the members here that follow our rules and want to point such things out when another member breaks them is perfectly fine, this is a community site where all contribute. Think of it as a citizens arrest.
To SlackerLX,
You are the first author to express such a view in your post and I commend you for it. I is refreashing to read such honesty. Wish all developers had the same views as yours.
This is my first post on this forum, been doing looking around and reading posts, getting a feel for this place. I came accross this thread and decided I would like to input my opinions.
Every Linux forum that I am a member of, seems to have the simular type of posts. Either slamming Windblows or Linux. In most cases it is nothing more than trollers provoking arguments. Once the shells are lobbed back and forth, the original poster dissapears, never to post again.
I am new to Linux, little over a years use, three months without Winblows. Been an M$ advocate since DOS 5.0. Then I got a taste of OS\2, that changed my thinking. After many dollars spent on upgrading my Winblows box, many frustrating hours just to get it stable, then before you know it, must update it with fixes and patches, immediatlly after installing. After going through all of that, being required to spend more money for another version, with assurrences the new version would be better...I was dissapointed every time. The problems just seemed to mount with each new release.
After building my new 64bit box, I upgraded to XP64, excited with the performance increases and stability to look forward to...again, I was let down. Instead of blowing my top, I decided to give a 64bit Linux a try and I was not dissappointed, in fact, I was quite suprised at how well and stable it was, so I set up a dual boot. Did not take long before my love for XP waned and my use of Linux increased to the point of becoming my only OS. Now I look back and think..."why did it take me so long?".
To all defenders of Winblows, stick with it, but please do not complain when M$ changes their procedures or do not purchase their product. It's a simple as that.

Off my soapbox now.

Actually, when a monopolist institutes vendor lock in, sues their customers when they sell old/retired licenses, and quadruples the price of product when competitors are driven out of the market or made irrelevant (see M$ office price since driving Smartsuite and Wordperfect out of the market) then consumers do have the right to get pissed and complain and criticise the monopolist.
I used to be an avid Microsoft fan (and even worked for them in the past!) but when they quit honoring their unconditional 30-day money-back guarantee and began to sue customers when they resell UNOPENED software BECAUSE M$ won't honor the guarantee they advertise in writing, my opinion of Microsoft completely reversed. They're abusing their position in the marketplace and either consumers need to respond and seek alternatives such as Linux or OS/X, or push for Microsoft to be broken into several (or many) smaller independent companies.
