Greeting,
I'm new here but not to Linux. I tried to install/upgrade from Core 6 to Fedora 9. The installer said I needed more space. So I tried to re size my Windows partition using the partition utility included in the DVD. That took forever and the process bar flickered back and forth and never stopped. So i booted to partition Majic in Windows and it returned an error code of 1529 and 1516 both refer to a mismatch in the partition. So I cleaned the Windows Registry and ran CHKDSK/F, Neither solved the problem. The Drive has over 28GB of free space I only need 10GB's of available space to upgrade my existing Linux OS.
Now the question is Should I have ignored the flickering during the resizing part of the installation or should I try to fix the errors.
I don't want to loose the existing files on my System. which is another problem because some files were lost that are needed to do a normal boot,i.e. my current Linux doesn't boot.is there a boot disk to start Linux when the boot loader has failed?
In short If I can resolve the Error codes I will be able to ad the space
I need to install an upgrade.Or there is a way to re size without fixing the error's?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
John
