Installation problem. Kernel panic

After a two-year pause, I'm trying again to get Fedora functioning on my computer. This time I went through the whole 5-cd installation process smoothly. BUT, here's what happens when I start up:

Once I get past GRUB, I get the following:

Uncompressing Linux...OK, booting the kernel
Red Hat Nash Version 5.0.32 starting
Kernel panic Not syncing: Attempted to kill init

Help

Are you using a SATA hard disc? If yes, check your bios settings as this must be a hardware compatibility issue.

Question more on panic

That computer has a Samsung 40GB as its main hard drive and a Quantum Bigfoot 12GB as the slave where I installed fc5.

The previous installation of fc2 didn't have this problem.

I'm not a technie, but teachable: What does "attempting to kill init" mean?

Hello,

Does this happen everytime you boot Fedora or just the first time?

I tried five or six times; that's as far as I get.

Idea. Before installing fc5, I did load the Puppy distro. Could that be the problem? If so, how would I fix it?

Thanks
