How to install kmail in fedora core 2

I wiped my redhat installation and installed core 2 from cd. It went v smoothly and detected all my hardware better than any distro i have used before.
i want to use kmail.
I logged in as an ordinary user opened a terminal and typed kmail.
It eventually launched but i got loads of error messages like kontact crashed and so on.
Is it ok to leave it?
If i am going to redo the installation of kmail how do i undo the havoc i wreaked by typing kmail at a terminal?
