FC-2 upgrading from disk after installation

hi everybody, I have installed FC-2 on my dual boot box. Now, at the time of installation of FC-2, I missed the check box for development tools. Now, when I try to do it from my add/remove programme manager, it gives certain file names like libuser, cyrus sasl etc. not found in the system but my find command says the files are installed. So, I am unable to install the development tools and experiment with the gcc or GNU c++ compiler. If anybody can suggest something, it will be a great help. I hope my online brothers will be kind enough to advise this newbie.

Why did you install FC2??, it is a retired release; http://download.fedoralegacy.org/

With that said learn how to use yum and do; yum groupinstall "Development Tools"

Thanks Lenard

Dear Lenard,
Thanks for your prompt response. As for why I am using FC-2 is I have only this version of Fedora. For last one month I am trying to find a group around Calcutta from where I can collect the FC-6 or FC-5 but to no avail. Since we are on the topic, is it true that FC-6 has a bug with disk geometry ? In such case, what step should I take to avoid- like putting my CHS value as kernel parameter perhaps ( I have a dual boot box with XP Home and my FC-2 was also fed the same parameter at the time of installation)? Does FC-5 too have same problem ? Kindly also let me know of any other known/common bug for these two versions. Thanks once again in advance.

Regards

I have not heard that about FC6 or FC5, but if you want see the common problems page;

The command yum groupinstall "Development Tools" should have worked. Is yum properly configured and working on your FC2 installation? Try using some of the other commands like yum list or better yet yum grouplist. If you don't get a response you should check out the settings in yum.conf. I had to tweak those a little when I was using FC2. Let us know how you make out.
