Cool f7 install broken?

I'm trying to install fedora 7 on my presario and the install looks like it was working. but at the end of the procedureI when the reboot button is given i choose it and the systemn reboots. I do the boot menu thing to xchoose the disk I want to boot from . fedora is there i choose it. it goes thru the process of booting. but it stops at the login: step. there the error messages of acpi unable to turn cooling device on starts showing up and the boot process just stops. i have tried installing several times but the same thing happens. is it me? or is it the install disk. can't remember which mirror i used to download the dvdiso file. i ran the media check and it passed. sombody please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

boot from install media, enter "linux rescue" at the "boot:" prompt. Mount your root partition someplace like /mnt, then:

echo -n "65:60:50:55:50:45" > mnt/proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/trip_points

reboot.

I will try the last suggestion

I will try the last suggestion but I have come to the conclusion that either I have the wrong hardware like lack of ram. the installer did make a complaint of that and shrike did too but shrike install was perfect it booted w/o a problem. I shouldn't have to do all these extra stuff you guys are suggesting. it should just work period. ubuntu was perfect. umm maybe I need to install to another drive? I'll get back to you guys.
thanks a bunch.

This is just not so! You are asking every programmer and developer to be able to anticipate every possible combination of hardware and firmware in the world - or, perhaps, to design everything to be perfect just for you!

There is no, repeat no, operating system that "just works" on every conceivable thing.

But you are right that you shouldn't have to do all this stuff... for a commodity desktop, this stuff should have been done by a professional and you buy it pre-installed.

You should realize, though, that you have chosen to use an experimental distribution. fedora is intended to push the envelope. Naturally, if you want something that requires less hacking, you should choose something more to the middle like
Quote:
ubuntu was perfect
... yes, that's right!

So use ubuntu then, and stop whining.

ok

simon,
of course you are correct. I just felt like it was only happening to me. no one else has complained. I felt that dsomeone was playing a joke on me or something.so isf no one else complained then the install was perfect. why was it not perfect for me? thats the source of my confusion. I'm missing some peice of information and I don't know what it is.am I the only one that's stupid? guess so. well I'll keep throwing mud at it some should stick eventually lol.
thank you for you comments. i think it set me straight.
