Core 1 locks at probing for new hardware

Hi All

I am brand new to Linux. I mae it thru the partitioning ok, but have two problems

1) the system locks at Fire wire controller search.

I can get around this by pressing a at the boot, and adding "nofirewire" to the line.

2) When fedora gets to probing for new hardware it locks and I can not get past this.

I have yet to get to the user log in

note. all the partitioning seems to work correctly, and multiple attempts have been made including re-install and two sets of install disks. Also this is a dual boot system with xp, and xp works perfectly

This is probably related to your system's hardware or bios. It would be good if you could say what it is. One thing that will sometimes help is to disable plug and play os in your bios.
