Probing for new hardware

I updated llinux FC2 by using up2date, when I tried to use new kernel there was no problem.

when I tried to use old kernel (origin) Linux stuck when it says : Probe for new hardware!!!

1- What should I do?

2- Why did this happen with old (origin ) ?

Thanks

1) Use the new kernel

2) Probably because up2date installed new modules that depend on the new kernel and so the old kernel won't work. Hardware probes often try to load the appropriate modules for detected hardware, so this may be why it stops there.

When I tried to use old kernel, some it does work without staying long time looking or probing for new hardware, and some times it does stay for ages. I did test in different location in the same building,,,,whay does this happen?
