Where is 'record'

Record is a simple command line program that used to be in Fedora 5. I have upgraded to FC6 and it is gone.

Does anyone know where I can get it, binary or source?

The feature that exists in record, is the start/stop record with the space bar. This option is not in arecord. I plan to use the program in a real time script.

Thanks for your time.

Do you have access to a Fedora 5 repository. Maybe the source package exists. You may be able to compile it on your present system.

I copied it from my FC5 system and it runs fine.
Now I need to get the source and modify it for my needs.
The program is poorly named, too many 'record' hits on google!
Thanks for the reply.

You could try locating a source package or tarball at http://rpm.pbone.net. You can filter the search for Fedora 5.

Have you looked at the arecord command-line recorder for ALSA systems? Perhaps it would suit your needs.

Arecord dose not have the start/stop feature I need.

I contacted the author and he pointed me to the source he had.

Thanks for the comments.
