Unable to record mic-in with SoundBlaster Live! while able to record other sources

Hello all !

I am facing a strange problem. With Mandrake 10.1 Official, I'm able to use my Sound Card. I can use alsamixer to change the way connected peripheral are reproduced thrue speaker (I can hear line-in, microphone, and also waves played by xmms and even Audacity).
I am able to record the "loopback" audio source (I am able to record waves played by any software, ie. mp3 played by xmms, a video stream, etc.) but I am unable to record the microphone : there is absolutly no sound, even if I can hear myself speaking in the speakers attached to the soundcard. Of course, if checked with alsamixer if the microphone was well selected as a capture device. I also checked if the capture function was working fine and it's the case as I can set or unset capture for "loopback" and get the expected result in the sample recorded in Audacity (wave played when capture set, a blank sound when unset).

I am unable to find a solution to this problem. Could you please help me ?

Many thanks forward.

Max.

Hi there,

I seem to have mine working by playing with alsamixer... There's so many to choose from though. These are the settings for the ones I think made a difference, they're all next to each other in the mixer.

I have :
Mic set to 0 volume,
Mic Boost muted,
Mic Input is Mic1 Jac
Mic Sele is Mic1 c
Mic1 Jac is Front out.

Just checked it and it works in Audacity too. Let me know how it goes eh?

I still have other problems with system sounds not working, and Juk / amarok not playing music though, so take the advice with care!
