video on fedora (midori)

I just installed fedora xfce spin and was sort of shocked how painless it was. I didn't really like midori or duck duck go at first because they're different and I don't like things that are different. But they sold me with "free software" and the "no tracking" thing so I'm gonna try getting used to them.

Video isn't working. In the olden days I remember I always had to put a flash .so library in a browser directory so I'm assuming I have to do the same thing again? Fedora recommends WebM instead of Flash and says it's default?

So do I already have WebM and if so where would I have looked to know that?
How do I get midori to start using it?

**edit**

I don't see webM anywhere in yum

Midori uses webkit which plays video and audio. See if webkit is built with gstreamer.

the ONLY video support that is installed is for the GPL'ed "ogv"

all the rest are PATENT and ROYALTY encumbered
and can not be redistributed by a USA based company
!!!!! BY LAW !!!!!!

however there are ways

see the Mjmwired guide
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f19.html

a bit old fedora 19 is not supported any longer
and rpmforge is NOW repoforge

Yum says I have these installed:

webkitgtk 2.4.7-1.fc21
webkitgtk3 2.4.7-1.fc21

Haven't figured out what gstreamer is yet.

midori isn't listed as a supported browser on webM's page:
http://www.webmproject.org/users/#su...d_web_browsers

I need to switch to firefox or use flash?

I think my answer is on midori's FAQ page. I don't think webM is supported? It looks like I have to get the flash library. Oh well.

**edit***

Code:
You need plugins for Theora, gstreamer(0.10/1.0)-base and MPEG-4 incluing aac (e.g. gst-plugins-faad), gstreamer(0.10/1.0)-bad. For WebM, you'll need plugins for vorbis (-base), matroska (-good), and vp8 (-bad). Have a look at http://www.gstreamer.net/documentation/plugins.html for details.
Well maybe i can get webm to work. Doesn't look easy.

Okay I got flash working. I'm done. Getting webM working would be superior but I'm too lazy.

If you install fedora xfce spin and you want you tube right now then do this:
Code:
su
yum install mozilla-filesystem
Then go to flash's page and if you're using midori it will detect you as chrome 32-bit so manually select linux 64 bit. I just downloaded the tar.gz. Extract it. Copy the libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. Restart midori. Watch flash.

webm is an open source format created by Google. Fedora already has support for playing webm video. That's not your problem here. You need Flash, and possibly gstreamer.
