midori browser
Hi, I fancied trying alternatives to firefox and my first port of call is midori. A few differences with ff but I guess I need to get used to them.
One thing that isn't obvious is a midori equivalent to about :config. This gives me a screen with the midori logo and nothing else. I can see there is a

I cannot find any reference to "browser.chrome.toolbar_tips" in that file on my system. I have version 0.4.3 installed. man midori was not much help.
Code:
~/.config/midori$ cat config
[settings]
default-encoding=ISO-8859-1
enable-site-specific-quirks=true
last-window-width=968
last-window-height=580
homepage=file:///usr/share/doc/midori/faq.html
location-entry-search=https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%s
enable-html5-database=true
user-agent=Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/535+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0 Safari/535.22+ Midori/0.4

Hi Frank,
I didn't explain that too well The "browser.chrome.toolbar_tips" is a setting in firefox. I was looking for an equivalent in midori. Digging deeper I can see there is also a ~/.local/share/midori directory which can hold settings as well. I think it is a case of searching for the right things. Basically this setting relates to when you hover your mouse over a subject title on a forum such as this. By default I have found that the firefox shows the first line of text in the posting when you hover over the title. I don't like this and can disable it by setting ""browser.chrome.toolbar_tips" to false in about :config. I am looking for the equivalent setting in midori.
I can't locate a web forum specific to the midori browser. Does one exist?
Thanks

You might find an answer at

https://www.webkit.org/
I must admit that I didn't, but then you'd be trying harder!

I haven't used Midori much--just taken a look at it, but I finally found the preferences dialog. I know it's strives to be very light-weight; as a result, it might not have as many options as bigger browsers.
I'm posting a picture showing where to click in case anyone else overlooks it as easily as I did (fully knowing that newer versions might look slightly different).

Hi All and thanks for the suggestions. As frankbell notes, midori strive to be light weight and that brings a few compromises. I originally came across it on a Linux Format DVD where I guess it fits well. A flick around the net does not show up any information which is not posted on this page. I'll keep midori in mind in case I need to use a light weight browser. For now though I'll stick with firefox
