At the moment i have FC 6 running on it, but i want to upgrade it to Fedora 7, but it keeps bombing out at the same point.
As you haven't stated which point this is or in what way it "bombs out", I'll have to use my psychic powers... lets see..
There's something square, or rectangular, a liquid is involved, and I see the color beige. Does the name "Mike" or "Jake" mean anything to you? How about "Bill"?
when i get the chance i will check again for the actual details.
it happens during or just after it checks dependancies.
it just stops and says it has encountered a problemm which is a bug.
i get the chance to debug or continue. if i click on continue it reboots the PC.
i know i could have posted more details, but i am in work at the mo, far away from my linux box. i was only asking to see if anyone else has encountered problems.
I've just come from JREF. You're lucky, these posts normally just get ignored.
Lots of people have encountered problems. Including Mike and Jake BTW.
If anaconda claims there is a bug, then it is probably known already. We need the bug description to check.
I had the same problem. I was making the jump from FC3 to F7. Major open heart brain surgery done on the tin (new mobo, proc, ram etc so drivers weren't installed, and in fact no drivers available for fc3).
So I am doing a time warp forward to f7. The install starts evaluating packages and then tanks with a problem with anaconda. Searched here and in fedora forums.
Over on fedora forums someone else the same problem (going from fc6 to f7). It turns out they had two versions of glibc installed (do rpm -qa glibc). If you find a duplicate then do rpm -e glibcthe-oldest-version.
Another poster had a problem with a duplicate kernel (this was my problem too). So right now f7 is upgrading on my "new" box.
