upgrading from RH 9.0 to Fedora 3

Has anyone done this? I have a server running RH 9.0 and it's got a lot of apps, home directories and other valuable stuff. I'm looking for opinions. Should I:

1. back up everything, then do an upgrade and see if it works?
2. backup eveything and do a fresh install?

Let me know your thoughts...

It's such a major shift from Redhat 9 to Fedora Core 3. Personally I suggest you backup everything and make a clean install.
