Problem with "yum update" and the macromedia mirror

Hi everyone!

I've never had any problem with yum before but today when I did yum update this is what I got:

Quote:
[root@localhost ~]# yum update
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Update Process
Setting up repositories
core [1/5]
core 100% |=========================| 1.1 kB 00:00
updates [2/5]
updates 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00
freshrpms [3/5]
freshrpms 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00
macromedia [4/5]
http://macromedia.rediris.es/rpm/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 12] Timeout: <urlopen error timed out>
Trying other mirror.
Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: macromedia
failure: repodata/repomd.xml from macromedia: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
Error: failure: repodata/repomd.xml from macromedia: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.

And I got the same message when I tried to open Yumex.

Is it just because the macromedia server is temporarily down or if it's something more serious?

Thank you for your time.

Hi, it's me again.

Please forget I said anything. I solved my problem. Everything works fine now. Case closed.

I apologize for this useless thread I started.

Hi lporshe!

There are actually 2 ways of solving the problem.

The first one is to do your update another day, hoping that the macromedia mirror will be functional.

The second (the one I used) is to exclude this mirror when you update. All you have to do is:
yum --disablerepo macromedia update.

I thought about doing just that, but thought I would wait for someone's actual answer.

Thanks for getting back quickly on this. It seems to be doing what it supposed to now!
