I am a newbeee

running a Fedora Core Release 4(Stentz)

kernel version 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4
(that is what came with my CD pack...)

on a i686.
(AMD Semprone 2400+, 256 MB DDR RAM)

The graphiacl system works fine.

However when i switchover to a Console
by pressing "Alt + Ctrl + F1" I am experiancing problems.
(most of the times)

Typed text do not apear at the curser, which is unsually located in the middle, and some times typed text do not appear at all.
Also the output from programs (like ls /) do not appear sometimes.

What could be the problem?? and how could i fix it?

Help me out... Pls.....

Console 1 is presumably where X was started from, and is in use. Try 2-6 and see if you get a login prompt...

I tried all the consoles. They are also not working, most of the time.

How ever there is no problem if I set default runlevel to a console mode, until I startX.

Could the problem be with my graphics driver.
I'm using a ATI Raeden 7200 AGP card.

Perhaps. If it works fine when you boot strait to console, and it is fine until you start X then it does seem to point to a video driver/Xorg problem. Perhaps Xorg is messing with console settings or something.

I am not sure how you should proceed here. Perhaps scour your Xorg.0.log and see if there are any hints.
Also, you could run 'stty -a' in both situations and see if there are differences, but this is just a crapshoot...
