hi,
this is an update of an unsolved thread of mine which is located at
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...7/#post2995312
the problem remains, only the kernel and fglrx versions are now up-to-date
so, to repeat the question briefly:
while everything about fglrx working perfectly, producing ~2600 fps
in glxgears on a Radeon 9550, as opposed to ~1500 on the open driver..
..why only compiz-fusion doesn't work at all?
this is what happens when i invoke 'compiz --replace' in terminal:
Code:
compiz (core) - Fatal: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing
compiz (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0
furthermore,
Code:
# compiz-manager
Checking for Xgl: not present.
No whitelisted driver found
aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity
'fglrxinfo':
Code:
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon 9550 / X1050 Series
OpenGL version string: 2.1.7276 Release
here are my current rpm -qa 's:
Code:
# rpm -qa | grep compiz
compiz-fusion-extras-0.6.0-1.fc8
libcompizconfig-0.6.0-3.fc8

any help is appreciated
thanks in advance

P.S.
if this is not solved, i'll probably try using both drivers on different
bootups, one with radeon driver (for using compiz), other with fglrx driver, so i'd also
appreciate if someone could point me to an article or FAQ, where
using different (video) drivers on two 'grub.conf' titles is explained, with one (fglrx) having extra modules compiled for same kernel
