Openoffice 2rc on Fedora Core 3
Hi,
Before I get started with my problem, I'd like to thank you for your interest in helping me. Well, I currently use a Linux OS called "FoX Desktop" which is based on Fedora Core 3. (It basically is Fedora Core 3 with only a few additions here and there.) However, when I tried using OpenOffice.org 2rc on this distro (it comes preloaded on the cds), it doesn't work. Installation is fine, and I found the files installed on the system where it should be (/opt/openoffice.org1.9.97/), but when I click on the icon (Writer) in the KDE menu, the bouncing cursor bounces around for a while, and then nothing happens. Trying to find the problem, I tried running the app through the terminal. It first gave me a permission error (although I was root). I changed the permissions so that I could execute the app. This time, it executed, but it could not find "soffice". Well, I checked around the directory for a bit, and I found a similar file named "sofficerc" located in /opt/openoffice.org1.9.97/program/. So, taking a chance, I changed this file name to "soffice" and tried running the app again. This time it gave me an error that reads:
"line 1: [Bootstrap]: command not found"
Again, I tried looking for a fix, but found none. I read through this "soffice" file and it did contain around 2 lines of commands, one of them being [Bootstrap].
Does any of you know a solution to this problem? Another thing, is it possible for those of you with OpenOffice.org 2rc on your system to give me the contents of your "soffice" file? I think mine is screwed up.
Thank you again for your time and I hope that you will have an answer to this question!
