No video after choosing Fedora core 2 from GRUB.

Hello everyone. First post here. I am currently on KNOPPIX 3.3 and you will soon find out why. I am a COMPLETE linux n00b and I've got a question that hopefully you guys can asnwer. (This first part isn't the problem-just the background story) I started getting fed up with Windows install yesterday so I decided to reinstall it. Everything goes fine untill I get an errer on the last reboot. (Actual problem starts here) I get pissed off so I decide to install Fedora Core 2. Everything installs just fine and I reboot like it asks. Everything goes fine and the grubb boot loaded comes up and I choose Fedora core 2. I hit enter and it starts to load. I get the "OK, Linux now booting" (something similar to that) and then it goes through and checks everything and starts to load and then I lose all video. No text, no GUI, no nothing. It's like my monitor went into hybernation mode. I'm thinking its my video card causing the problem. Here are my system specs.

AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1200+
512MB SDRAM
ATi Radeon 9200 Pro 256MB
40GB hard drive (the one I installed Fedora Core 2 onto)
80GB Seagate drive
Generic 52x CDROM
LG 24x10x40x CDRW

Any help (in a Linux n00b friendly language please ) will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch guys.

What is the last thing that you see before it goes blank? Is it going blank just before it switches to the GUI? Do you see it run down a list of things going [OK] or [failed] after them? If so what is the last one you see before it blanks? It would help out if we know more about where it is dropping video exactly.

Ok. The last thing it says before I lose the video is "Press I to enter interactive setup" (I think thats it) "Welcome to Fedora Core" at the bottom of the screen. Then I lose the video.

Hope that helps
