no logout screen

Hello,

under FC4, after logging out, I get black screen. To shut down the machine, I press Alt-Ctrl-Dell, wait til it reboots and shut down manually at the grub boot menu. It is not at all good, so what to do ?

This happens to me after I installed new ATI driver (without saving the original X config file...).

Thanks for any comment.

If you have X running and try switching to a console with Ctrl-Alt-F1, does it display one? If not, certainly sounds like the a slight mis-configuration in xorg.conf . Should it not bring you back to your login manager such as GDM or KDM after logging out though? What if you restart the x-server with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, does it bring your login manager back allowing a proper shutdown?

no, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace doesn't work. it worked before installing this ati driver, but not any more now.

thank you for the reply.
