BLACK SCREEN after logout

Hi,

I have built a LFS system on my P4 2.4 Ghz system, and have built X and gnome. The problem that I am facing is, after logout the login screen goes black. Another thing , when I switch to the console via Ctrl+Alt+F1 and then again switch back to X by Ctrl+Alt+F7 it shows me black screen, although I get correct responses for my keyboard input to X ( ex: pause / unpause in XMMS ). Could anyone help please...

I suggest that you review man xdm. The X-system is rather hard to set up, but there's a whole lot of documentation of which this, and the man-pages therein referenced, is the main one.

As an immediate analysis of the problem, I would say that X does not know to relaunch the login-program. Or that it is trying but failing to do so. The logfiles will assist you greatly here.

I was using vesa as a driver . I changed it to i810 and everthing became perfect
