Networking help
Hi Everybody,
I am having a little difficulty setting up what Linux does best, networking. I have three machines I want to include in a home network: AMD64 3400+, 1.5GBmem (FC4), PIII 500 320mb (Ubuntu), and a P4 Laptop 512mb (WinXP). I am using a Belkin router with built-in ADSL. The laptop connects wireless and the other two are wired. It would be nice to have complete network services on all three, but at the minimum I need to share the printer attached to the FC4 machine. It is configured for sharing on this machine.
The router is the gateway to the net with DHCP for all three machines. I know the machines are communicating because I can ping their addresses with complete success.
When entering the URL on the Ubuntu machine for the network printer I use this:
ipp://192.168.2.5/printers/printer (as shown on the FC4 machine for printer URL)
The windows laptop can be pinged, but does not recognize the network at all.
I know this should be a simple procedure in Linux, but I am stumped.
Any help very much appreciated.
Bob
