i'm trying to install mplayer via yum and it just ain't working. here is the error message
# yum install mplayer

it sounds like the lib that you need to install....is not available in yum at that time.
However, have you tried going to the Mplayer stie and downloading the rpms....it's really easy to install directly....and that might solve your problem, since I'm not sure what version of mplayer yum is trying to download.
That lib is already installed. That is the frustrating part about it. I also tried dl if from the mplayer website but it came back with the same error message. I'd hate to uninstall that lib since so many other packages are dependant on it. Any further ideas would be helpful. Thanks
are you sure the lib you have installed is indeed exactly the same version it asks for?, because some programs are stupid like that, and even if you have a newer version, they still want the older one.
