Hi there! I too was having the same problems however I was able to resolve them with the following steps.

First start with the steps here

NTFS-3g Fedora 6 HOW-TO

From here I had to also set SELinux to "permissive"

And here is what my /etc/FStab line looks like

Code:
/dev/sdb5 /mnt/Backup ntfs-3g rw,defaults,umask=0000 0 0
The above was taken from the reply salvatruco made showing his fstab however I modified the /dev/**** and /mnt/**** to reflect my own setup.

I no longer get a mounting or umounting error on startup or shut down and it also appears on my desktop as a mounted drive available to be accessed by my user account with read / write.

If you have any specific questions about anything I did in the above let me know and I will try to break down anything I can.

Hope this helps solve your troubles. This one has been a pain in my a** for a long time now.

Cheer, Dan

hi,
setting SELinux to permissive mode ,turns the Selinux in a position that warns but didnt stops any action against the policies. So i think it will be better if selinux is turned off only for this feature as the bug is not fully resolved.
The primary cause of the error is the hyphen '-' symbol in ntfs-3g.When we put this in fstab, selinux dont understand or permits it.

So now, which service is responsible for mounting the fstab?

thanks and regards,
Nirmal Tom.

I have updated SELinux Policy also but nothing happened in this regard. As for me I am unmounting manually as root and then shutting down.
