Missing multiple Desktops under root with Gnome on FC 4

I'm running the Gnome desktop on FC 4. My non-root user accounts have four desktop spaces that are accessible by clicking on small boxes at the far right of the Gnome 2.10.1 panel that is at the bottom of my screen. Root has the same panel at the bottom of the screen, but it doesn't have the multiple desktop spaces. It has one desktop space only. I'm not sure if "desktop space" is the right term. Each is like a new blank desktop area that you can open programs and windows in, and then switch between them as a group by clicking each of the boxes at the far right of the panel.

How can I make it so that root has four Gnome desktop spaces like my other accounts? Also, is four the limit with Gnome, or can I add more to the panel?

They are called workspaces and require an applet which you will find byright clickind on the panel, choosing add to panel and scrolling down within the resulting window to workspace switcher. Choose this. You can add more, right click on applet and choose preferences.

That worked, Kurt.

Thank you!
