I heard that there is new kernel for Fedora Core 2. It is kernel 2.6.9, anyone know where I can get it?

from kernel.org if you want sources...if you're looking for rpm, I can't help except if rpm.pbone.net finds it for you...

I'm running 2.6.10-rc1 at the moment, as 2.6.9 had some problems in the kernel that made some of my devices non-working..after upgrading they do work

The information is false. There is no such kernel update for Fedora Core 2.

The most recent kernel for FC2 is still 2.6.8-1.521, which is based on 2.6.8-rc4-bk3.

Using a newer kernel from Fedora Core Development or Fedora Core 3 Test 3 would require updates of related utilities.

Uhhhhh............

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...1.643.i686.rpm

or

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...6/Fedora/RPMS/

but I get

Quote:
[root@localhost kernel]# rpm -Uvh kernel-2.6.9-1.643.i686.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
mkinitrd >= 4.1.15 is needed by kernel-2.6.9-1.643
in FC2. Then

Quote:
[root@localhost kernel]# rpm -Uvh kernel-2.6.9-1.643.i686.rpm mkinitrd-4.1.18-1.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
udev < 0:032 conflicts with mkinitrd-4.1.18-1
I suppose I'll just wait till the 8th.

Hey flysideways

You can get the mkinitrd from the same site. Install mkinitrd first.

# rpm -Uvh mkinitrd-4.1.18-1.i386.rpm

then

# rpm -i kernel-2.6.9-1.643.i686.rpm

That worked for me.
