Intel i865pe chipset sound problem

I have no sound with Fedora Core 1 . When I use the Intel driver alsa_adi-0.9.1_rev5 which worked in Redhat 9.0. When you make install that's when it errors. I'm using the Intel D865Perl motherboard, with the Intel 865PE chipset, The onboard sound is a Integrated 6-Channel ADI 1985 with Audio ESP. Any suggestions.

I had the same problem. My motherboard is the Intel D865 PERL.

Try the following:
1) Download last alsa driver (driver+lib+util files)available from www.alsa-project.org
2) Follow the instructions from
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...odule=intel8x0

BUT

instead of

./configure --with-cards=intel8x0 --with-sequencer=yes;make;make install

do

./configure
mkdir -p include/linux
touch include/linux/workqueue.h
make
make install

and continue with the instructions.

This worked for me. However, even if the sound works, I still get an error message starting kde.

Let me know...

Thanks I'll give it a try and let you know how it works. Next question is which package did you use because they have a new one out.

I checked the site, and it seems they released a 1.0.0rc1 version just yesterday. I used 0.9.8 version myself.

I'm not using the sata drives I'm using standard IDE. I turned off sata in the bios. I also am not using enhanced usb2 because some of my devices still use usb1. Plus I found it easier to get xp up and running well. Same for Linux. Great board to buy it's very fast.

I also had this sound problem and struggled for days to fix it. Finally resolved it by going to www.intel.com and getting newer BIOS and the LINUX Red Hat 9 driver for sound. Don't know if BIOS was required to fix problem but figured it was a good idea. After downloading the driver and extracting it I did a chmod 700 on the file to make it execuatable and then ran it from terminal window. I now have sound.

I am a new at Fedora so probably can't help much more than this.
