Install/Update in Fedora Core 10 without internet, using previously downloaded .rpm
Hi Friends,
I am very new to the Linux OS and recently have installed Fedora Core 10 using VMware on WinXp. The installation was successful but the installation package was older and hence I thought of updating it. On trying to update, it automatically determined all the updates required and downloaded the files to /var/cache/yum/updates/package folder. I noted down this folder path and copied all the downloaded files to my windows folder. The files size was more than 1GB and I could not download 1 GB everytime I screw Fedora Core on my PC while trying something. As expected while trying to install VMware tool I screwed the Fedora Core resolution I guess and on starting the Fedora Core I was getting complete black screen. After trying many things I finally thought of re-installing Fedora on VMware. I have now Fedora 10 installed but now I want to update it again using the previously downloaded update files. I have read regarding pointing the repository file to Fedora DVD and update from there. But I want to know how to update from the files stored in a folder on Fedora. Some files are update and some may be fresh install, I don't know which is which. Also after double clicking some of the .rpm files I was getting some error mentioning "cannot read repomod file....".
Can anyone please suggest a simple way of installing/updating the huge no. of files from a folder on fedora without much complexity as a newbie like me can screw Fedora again.
Thanks in advance!!!
