How do I restart xwindows automatically in Fedora 7?

I installed Fedora 7 from the KDE live CD.

After I log out of KDE or I press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, it puts me back at the command line prompt and I have to type startx again. In previous versions, I was automatically put back on the xwindows login screen. I'd like that behavior again if possible.

You need to edit your /etc/inittab look for id:x:initdefault: under default runlevel and change whatever x is to 5

Take a backup of you inittab file before making the changes.

Why are you logging out of KDE?
If you're after a terminal try Ctrl>Alt>F1, then Ctrl>Alt>F7 to get back to KDE

There are any number of reasons to log out of KDE. In my case, I have more than one user, and I don't want to restart too often.

Anyway, I figured out my problem; I'll post my crude fix here in case anybody else is after something similar.

It seems that the Live CD only installs a minimal X-Windows environment, and gdm seems configured strangely. Going into the package manager and installing the full X-Windows packages adds the behavior I was looking for (restarting x-windows after logout).
