Hello! Problem with mouse and cd-rom

Hello!
I'm new to fedora core 3 and to linux in general.
I went through the installation just fine and I think I got Wine working..
However, when the pc starts up, it would never detect my mouse (regular Labtec optical mouse ps/2 port). I have to disconnect it and reconnect manually for it to work.

Also, when I run a cd, it would stop responding and won't even open when I do so manually. It usually happens after a prompt. Unfortunaly i do not know the brand name or anything about my cd-rom..

I would appreciate any help you guys can give me

Thanks in advance!
Laimay
