GRUB equivalent of lilo's "linear" option?

I'm building a headless workstation with Fedora Core 1, and I know I can get this machine to boot when I use lilo with the "linear" option. However, with GRUB, when the system boots, it hangs.

What's the equivalent option in GRUB for lilo's "linear"?

Its a quirky old box, a Netgear fileserver--it doesn't have video, floppy, or anything exciting like that. In fact, it doesn't even have a serial out! I test it out, and if it doesn't work, I pull the drive and plug it into my desktop to see what did (or didn't) happen.
