Guys,
I recently updated everything on my system including the kernel. The system is stable, no problems there.
1) But 'gdmsetup' is not working. Earlier it was perfectly ok as i had customised my own theme for the login screen. My theme has been replaced by a standard Fedora login screen ( though nice). Not that of an issue, but i want to know what happened here.
This is the output at terminal
Code:
[root@shrilinx shrikant]# gdmsetup
(gdmsetup:3070): Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by Xlib
(gdmsetup:3070): Gdk-WARNING **: cannot set locale modifiers

Command failed 5 times, aborting.
Could not access GDM configuration file.
It says about missing a config file. Where can i find that??
2) I want to remove old kernels, 2.6.16-1.2080_FC5 and 2.6.16-1.2096_FC5 since these are not smp and got installed by default. I use 2.6.16-1.2096_FC5smp for my HT machine.
BUT this is the msg i get for trying to remove both of them
Using KPackage :
Code:
rpm -e --test kernel;echo RESULT=$?
error: "kernel" specifies multiple packages
RESULT=1
Using KYum :
Code:
You have chosen to erase 1 installed package(s).
The following is a list of installed packages that, according to rpm, rely on these packages and will therefore be uninstalled, too.
Please confirm that you really want to delete these packages.
gnome-volume-manager-1.5.15-1
pcmciautils-012-0.FC5.2
Shall i go ahead and remove it using kYum. Will it effect anything?
Thanks
