firefox takes too long to startup

hi everyone,
I installed fedora8 on my acer laptop.
Everything is fine and I can connect to the net well.
However, if the laptop is off line i.e the broadband modem is disconnected, then firefox takes ages to open up.

So I can't browse any web pages offline if I saved them on the hard disk...
any solutions ????

Being off line doesn't make any difference on this computer, I wonder if your firefox is looking for something online, can't think what or why thou.

If you tick the "work off line" box, does firefox start in that mode next time?? If it does, that may help.
Another thought is to navigate to your web page with nautilus then try open with firefox, instead of starting firefox first.

Only random thoughts, may not help very much.
