i wanted to hear some feedback on this. i just put core 1 on my comp because i decided to quit dual booting, and i really like gnome 2.6. i was wondering if test 3 is final enough to move to as my primary os, or if i should wait for teh final. ive been running slackware with kernel 2.6 and gnome 2.6 and the newer kernel is a bit faster, and i really like the new gnome, so im a bit impatient, but if test 3 is still very beta i would rather wait another month or whatever for the final. thanks for any input!
I saw something on slashdot regarding this. It basically read that on kernel 2.6.5 and above, Nvidia's driver won't install due to a bug. I don't know if it's true or not.
i downloaded it. installed it on a couple of test machines. i don't really use my desktop any more with the nvidia card, so im not as worried about that. im thinking about upgrading my laptop, which is kinda my work computer. on the test machines i tried it had a res issue, but i found the answer to that.
it felt really fast on the machines i tested it on. that was the main reason im itching to upgrade.
if i decided to upgrade and use it at length, ill post feedback in here.
4kstacks isn't compatible with nvidia's drivers...
i'm running a custom compile of 2.6.3-2.1.253 with 4kstacks disabled and nvidia's drivers runs perfect. but not on 2.6.5 because it is locked on
I just installed it today.... Runs great for me in a pretty much default configuration.
Noticed a DDC bug with xorg and my Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 21TX, but manually configuring what it should be getting fixed that problem. Anakonda didn't seem to exibit the problem.
Other than that, it's just been a few hours compiling sources so I can use the fun stuff. (and waiting for the nvidia driver to be released. Thou I did read something about how they are testing a 6x series driver for release right now)
