Fedora Core 5 stopped responding to some events
Greetings,
I apologize that my first transaction at the bank of your collective wisdom is a withdrawl, but I must ask a question.
I have used Slackware since 1994 and installed and configured everything hundreds of times. I have just switched to Fedora Core 5 and I'm now basically a babe in the woods again.
Anyway, Last night I was running my fresh install of FC5 on my Gateway7515 laptop, and everything was going very well. I was running on battery and I ignored the low batt warnings until it finally shut off.
Now USB drive and CDROM drive events don't cause the media to automount anymore. I tried mounting the install DVD onto /mnt as root and the system spotted it and put an icon on the desktop for me, which suggests the problem is fairly low-level.
I figure that since the filesystem didn't unmount cleanly or because some semaphore is stuck floating around, the events are not registering.
I "tail -f"ed /var/log/messages and plugged and unplugged my USB drive and didn't see anything come up.
automount is running, but I dunno if this is the cuplrit. Here's the /etc/auto.master contents (minus comments):
/net /etc/auto.net
I'm hoping I just missed something dumb and obvious. Can anyone spot it?
Thanks.
