Do you want irda configuration?

Or software for communication:

At first, you've to have support at your kernel and installed irda-utils (http://irda.sourceforge.net/ )

---/etc/modules.conf
alias irda0 nsc-ircc
options nsc-ircc dongle_id=0x08

---commands:
setserial /dev/ttyS1 uart none
irattach irda0 -s

for communication test use:
irdadump

But be aware that this is instruction for my HP Omnibook 6000 machine with IRDA with FIR mode. It will depend on type you have.
