i just wanted to know if it is possible to install FC2 and then revert back to an older kernel?
ie. to 2.4.18-10 "the redhat 7.3 series kernels"
if not, is it possible with FC1 instead since it uses a 2.4 series kernel natively?
any comments appreciated.
thanks.
i am not really an expert, but i don't see any intrinsic reason one would not be able to compile (& use) an older kernel.
you can get vanilla kernels from kernel.org
well i was actually affraid of braking some of the applications...
but i think* it should be ok...
i just want some backing from other people, maybe they have tried this before.
fyi: i need to use the Redhat 2.4.18-10 kernel for VPN-1's client it will **only** work with that version, other Redhat 2.4.18-X kernels will crash the kernel.
and Redhat 7.3's software is really outdated, alot of programs complain about its CRAPPY custom gcc 2.96 build (which is red hats "own" version of gcc 2.95 with "their updates")

i see. well, you know where to get that kernel ;^)
good luck.
and if you keep the stock kernel, you can always go back to that if you have problems.
Have you found a working solution for SecureRemote on Linux?
I am toying with the idea of using a VMWare sandbox with RedHat 7.3 installed with the VPN-1 software. I have the VM connecting to the remote site and can access computers within that site without a problem. Now I'm trying to get routing from the host machine to go through the VM through to the VPN-1 connection. I am not having much luck, however. I don't know if VPN-1 is thwarting any IP forwarding or if I just have my routes/NAT'ing setup incorrectly.
