Fedora 8, NIS, NFS, autofs

/etc/nsswitch.conf - check
/etc/auto.master - check
/etc/resolv.conf - check
/etc/yp.conf - check

Static IP address, NIS working fine, but automounter refuses to work.

A Debian 4 workstation on the same network with the same config works fine.

What am I missing?

It's not clear what you are trying to accomplish.
