I am working on a network of Solaris 2.6 machines. I am adding a Redhat 7.3 machine. The network uses NIS and NFS. All Solaris machines export /export/home and automount all other machines as /net/export/home.

The username and passwd are being accepted when I login to the RH box. I can manually mount the exported NFS directories and login works fine. I want to automate this based on the NIS server settings. These include the /export/home directories of all machines and specific file servers being hard mounted on all machines.


Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you haven't already, install automount/autofs to your Red hat machine. With ths pacjage loaded, just like with Solaris, the required mounts will be mounted automatically when you access that mount. If you're dual booting with MS Windows, this will also work with your windows partitions, CD and Floppy.. It should be on your distro disks. -mk
