Fedora 28+CUPS 2+...+Epson XP200 won't print test page
Have "apparently" installed CUPS 2.1.... correctly and have 2 destinations for Epson xp200.
BUT at Administration>Find new printer I get empty space i.e. not found any.
Feeling fairly certain as every thing got accepted and did it twice after deleting printer.
Was not intending this to be a postscript printer but is that what is missing?
Also printing test page doesn't cause printer to wiggle/giggle but CUPS thinks it sent the page; its in the completed list.
I built this using root user (sent test page as such too) do I need to add acceptable users?
Thanks
How is the printer connected? (USB, network-connected...) For network-connected printers, you may want to drop the firewall temporarily to help with automatic detection. Alternatively, you can manually configure the printer....from the CUPS web interface: Administration > Add Printer....
BTW, you can check the current configured driver by examining the installed .ppd file...
Code:
egrep - i "model|name|filter" /etc/cups/ppd/*
The current defined printer queue(s) and status....
Installed the Epson XP200 usb printer via CUPS and every thing indictes it printed the test page but no output.
Installed OFF LINE i.e. no web effect. That is why I listed the CML commands in hope someone might see what is going on.
I’ve also explained how to put CUPS into debug mode and examine the error log for messages that might help determine the cause of the issue. You should keep your discussion in one thread as well..,
That info brought me no closer.
Here is what I extracted from CUPS thinking it might suggest something.
In CUPS followed the captions and collected the following:
ADMINISTRATION > PRINTERS
Queue Name = EPSON_XP-200_Series 9 pin
location= lab1 & Status= idle
>CLASSES
Queue Name= xp
>JOBS in regard to Test page printing
ID=EPSON_XP...(as above)... Series
Shows dSeiko Epson 0468:9896
Asside Ran ifconfig and got nothing
It looks to me that CUPS has correctly identified the printer therefore it is on and connected.
Looked at ALL of CUPS pages and found them matching my printer.
Is there a segment/sequence that may not be intuitively obvious to fill out that I could have missed. BTW it prints from Windows 10 which is
a pain to use.
Hope this helps BTW can only get to an AP about 1/2 times /wk sorry for delay

Reason: poor memory
Your lack of definitive information has not helped to progress this. Return back to post #2 and run the requested commands. Post the output here, and enclose it with [code][/cod.] tags. (Refer to the '#' button in the advanced editor.)
The reference to 'Queue Name = EPSON_XP-200_Series 9 pin' suggests to me that you may have configured with an incorrect driver for this 'All-in-One' inkkjet printer. The command I gave to you to check /etc/cups/ppd/* will confirm what has been configured.
