hi, i just installed fedora-15 using classic gnome with compiz...
i am not able to figure out how to put icons on the desktop (it used to have links for my home directory, trash-bin, different mounted volumes, ...) useful for rite-clik -> unmount.
also it seems like compiz-fusion is terribly buggy in it. i cant change desktop by dragging the side of the screen (spinning cube)
i went to 'rotate cube -> bindings tab and in initiate i have this: <LeftEdge><RightEdge>Button1' but its not working.
... some of the compiz-config setting manager checkboxes will cause weird things in windows.
are these issues normal since it is still fairly new (even classic gnome doesnt feel classic)?

Gnome in their infinite wisedom has eliminated the desktop as a recpient of launchers (icons). They do not believe in letting the data chose the application, but the converse.
So you should perhaps look at xfce, also in Fedora15, or another distribution.
Some developers get bored with a legacy interface that works, and that is a shame. They break things so that they can have new development.
One group says that the PC will disappear. Another says that the Tablet PC is just an alternative form for Linux, and that the desktop must remain.
I have desktops and laptops, and keyboards, and I need the Desktop to remain. I switched to xfce. Do likewise.
