I had some odd boot-ups in my Fedora Core 5 LAN installation where I couldn't log in to my low level users and when I tried to log in to root, I was bounced right out with a warning saying something about only logging in for 10 seconds. And also, I found that one of my Logical volumes was not being recognized and I would have to go back in and "reinstall" it -- or whatever the process is called. Eventually, when I tried to reboot, I was getting file system warnings and dropping to a file check command line. Finally I tried running fsck without the -p or -a as suggested, but who knows anything about how to respond to those prompts. So I muddled through guessing a few times and finally tried "fsck -p" which didn't work and "fsck -y" which also didn't work.
Now, when I boot up I pretty consistantly get ...
Quote:
Found Volume group "VolGroup00"
Two logical volumes now active ...
Ext3-fs journal inode is deleted
mount: error mounting
setuproot: moving ... No such file ...
setuproot: error mounting ...
setuproot: error mounting ...
....
Kernel panic ...

... and the whole thing grinds to a halt. I didn't get an exact quote of the errors, but I hope somebody gets the general idea.
Does anyone know what happened and what I can do to fix things?
