FC5 disc 1 install - hangs after keyboard selection
As the subject says, after booting disc1 the FC5 installation freezes after the selection of the keyboard (which is the second question asked after X boots: the first question is which language). Right after the keyboard selection, a dialog box pops up and states that it's looking for previous installations. It hangs at this dialog box.
One thought was that it's hanging while looking for previous installations -- but it's hard to tell.
Note that I have a previous FC3 installation on hdb, not on hda. hda contains the grub booter but Windows is on hda. Could it hang there? Kinda strange to hang there - the dual boot works fine for many months.
I've tried the text installation method, and I've burned 2 other Disc 1 but the result is the same. I've "tested" each disk with the fedora check (although I read one poster say the mediacheck doesn't work), and I've made sure that the image written to disc was verified.
Are these bad images (on the ftp fedora core kernel mirror) or could it be hanging while looking for previous installations?
Or? Any ideas much appreciated!
